Futility is a Max For Live util that lets you control and automate quite a few things you couldn’t otherwise.
I love Max For Live, as it’s a sort of bridge between the default Ableton devices and plugins. Max For Live devices can be way more intergrated into Ableton than a plugin could be, and Futility is a device that really proves that.
It’s a pretty old Max For Live device that pretty simply exposes some controls on the track it sits on, so you can add shortcuts (and maybe midi controls and automation) for things that were previously unmappable.
Futility v4 – full shortcut control over the selected track + floating track mixer + more!
– 4€ (or more) on Gumroad
I’m trying to cut down on device bloat, so instead of buying it I put it here, so I can buy it when I need it. Previously i’d buy these things and then not find them in the ocean of installed M4L devices.
If you see this and wanna see more of these posts, holla!
The device is developed by Valiumdupeuple – Useful, solid and unique M4L devices (quite ugly, though) – and they have a ton of other plugins that have similar niches.
I love how Max For Live seems to be able to add almost any feature, if you just look hard enough. With some exceptions of course.
